Tar Heels players continue to think about NBA Draft
CHAPEL HILL – The formalities are out of the way.
Coach Roy Williams has met with members of his North Carolina men’s basketball team, and now it’s wait and see on decisions from forward Brandan Wright, center Tyler Hansbrough and guard Tywon Lawson.
All three have considered, to some degree or another, leaving the Tar Heels to the NBA Draft. None have made definitive statements one way or another.
NBA Draft projections suggest that Wright, who completed his freshman season, would be the highest draftee among the 2006-07 Tar Heels.
“You never know who’s going to be here next year,” said Hansbrough, who has had two award-filled seasons at North Carolina.
Tywon Lawson’s stock fluctuated throughout his freshman season, when he played point guard.
Williams’ meetings with players covered the past two weeks. He said those would be part of the process in providing information to help the players make their decisions.
Meanwhile, the team will hold its annual awards ceremony Tuesday night at the Smith Center. It’s free and open to the public, beginning at 7 p.m.
In addition to comments by Williams, the event will include presentation of awards, annual highlight video and speeches by seniors Dewey Burke, Wes Miller and Reyshawn Terry.
