Road to the Final Four Top 5 Seniors in the NCAA Tournament
They’re the guys that have been there before. They take command of the locker-room and stay calm under pressure. The seniors. Here are the Top 5 you’ll watch during March Madness:
5. Jared Dudley, F, Boston College
A smart player who leads with energy and passion. He’s a force on the boards for the Eagles averaging 8.3 rebounds per game. Dudley scored 30 points and snagged 11 boards Feb. 3 in a 80-59 BC win over Virginia Tech.
4. Aaron Gray, C, Pittsburgh
A 7-footer who’s a legitimate NBA prospect. He’s close to averaging a double-double with 14.1 points and 9.6 rebounds for the Panthers. Gray scored 22 points and added 10 boards Feb. 8 in a 89-79 win over Marquette.
3. Alando Tucker, F, Wisconsin
An excellent athlete, Tucker is in the running for college player of the year. The 6-5, 205-pounder can slash and rebound with the best of them. Tucker had 32 points and 10 rebounds in a Dec. 16 game against Pitt, a 89-75 Badger win.
2. Nick Fazekas, F, Nevada
The stats don’t lie: 20.5 points per game, 11.2 rebounds, 58.1 percent from the field, 84.7 from the charity stripe. The 6-11, 225-pound Fazekas had 28 points and 15 rebounds in 78-70 Wolf Pack win over Santa Clara on Nov. 25.
1. Acie Law, G, Texas A&M
A fearless point guard that can score and dish. Law has also developed a deadly shot from behind the arc, nailed three-pointers at a 45 percent rate. He finished with 33 points in a 98-96 loss to Texas on Feb. 28.
"He just takes over games at the end," Texas star Kevin Durant said of Law after the game. "He’s a great player."
